ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Some Orange County deputies spent the first day of the new year investigating an armed robbery at an AT&T store.
Witnesses said a masked man armed with a gun walked into the store on University Boulevard in Winter Park just before noon Thursday and forced two employees into the back before making off with cash and merchandise.
Investigators said they are reviewing surveillance video from inside the store to try and identify the robber.
"They are saying that they are scared. The girl is crying inside," neighboring businessman Vipan Anad said, describing the employees at the AT&T store.
Anad said the robber had a car waiting and drove away following the robbery.
Investigators said the robber forced the employees into the store's restroom before leaving with cash, cellphones and other items.
"It's just people being greedy and looking for ways to make fast money," said Kyle Tramonte, of the Orange County Sheriff's Department.
Nearby business owners said they believe that the man who committed Thursday's robbery is the same man who robbed the store nearly a year ago.
"The last time he said that they chased him by Target. This time he came back with a gun," Anad said.
Anad said he is concerned for the safety of those working in the area. They too now worry for their safety
"We are always scared, yes. It happens a lot here," he said.
Investigators said they are looking into whether or not Thursday's robbery might be the work of the same man who robbed an AT&T store on Colonial Drive just before Christmas
