Search warrant sends battering ram plowing into Longwood home

NOW PLAYING ABOVE

LONGWOOD, Fla. — A Longwood neighborhood is on edge after the sheriff’s office sent a battering ram down the street and into a home.

Neighbors are concerned about what might have been going on at the home to spark the heavy law enforcement presence.

Pictures show how the armored vehicle raced down the road and busted through the front door.

A Snapchat video from a witness showed the SWAT team and the battering ram driving into the neighborhood.

Witness Beebs Winters said the whole thing startled her.

“There (were) SWAT teams everywhere. SWAT teams, men and women, dogs, battering rams, one of those battering tanks out here. The streets were cut off,” she said.

According to the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were helping Longwood police serve a search warrant at the home.

Police said there was an armed robbery to a person at the home early Monday and during the investigation, probably cause was established to search the home.

Police said several items were seized during the search warrant, but they did not say what was taken.

Residents said they have seen a lot of activity taking place at the home in recent months, and said the owners installed a fence and camera system.

They said they’ve seen people they don’t recognize coming and going from the home.

“It just got crazier and crazier, staying up all night, screaming and yelling, having parties. I asked him, ‘What are you building a fortress for?’ and he laughed it off,” said Winters.

Witnesses told Channel 9 at least two people were taken into custody, but Longwood police and Seminole County deputies have not confirmed that information.
