19-year-old arrested after housemate found shot dead inside Melbourne home, police say

MELBOURNE, Fla. — A 19-year-old Melbourne man is in custody after police said his housemate was found dead inside their home Wednesday night.

Melbourne police said Kevin Austin, 40, and Keyshawn Brown, 19, were seen arguing moments before a gunshot was heard at their home on Almond Street. Officers said the men are not related and lived in separate rooms.

Officers said when they responded around 11:25 p.m., Austin was found dead. They said Brown had left the home before police arrived, but he was located and taken into custody following an extensive search.
