Lining up to get COVID-19 tested in Brevard County? Bring a good book, officials say

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — If you’re heading out to get COVID-19 tested in Brevard County, officials recommend you bring a good book, snacks and plenty of patience.

Health officials said in the past four to five weeks, the number of COVID-19 cases in Brevard County has jumped from 50 per 100,000 to 814.6 per 100,000, which ranks among the highest rate of positive COVID-19 test results since the pandemic started.

In the past week, officials said the number of tests administered has more than doubled, leading to longer wait times at some locations.

“It is recommended that those seeking a COVID-19 test exercise patience and to consider bringing along a good book to read and something to snack on while you wait,” officials said. “It’s also recommended to make sure your vehicle has plenty of gas in the tank.”

Florida Department of Health-Brevard (walk-up site): 2555 Judge Fran Jamieson Way, Viera. Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. (No appointment required; walk-ins welcome.)

Parrish Medical Center (drive-thru site): 951 N. Washington Ave., Titusville. Monday-Sunday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Appointments preferred; walk-ins welcome.)

Rockledge City Center (drive-thru site): 920 Barton Blvd., Rockledge. Testing Monday-Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Pre-registration recommended; walk-ins welcome.)

West Melbourne Community Park (walk-up site): 3000 Minton Road, West Melbourne. Testing Monday-Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Use Fell Road entrance to park. Pre-registration is recommended; walk-ins welcome.)
