School is back in session as COVID-19 cases continue to climb

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — School is back in session across Central Florida as COVID-19 cases continue to climb.

In Orange County, school leaders reinstated their mask policy for all adults on campus.

District officials said they made the change after the recent surge in cases.

As of Monday, there were 866 student cases reported. More than 300 employees also tested positive.

It is the largest spike in cases since the start of the school year.

Students are not required to mask up, but they are strongly encouraged to wear one.

The new mask policy for adults will stay in effect through January.
