6-year-old among two hurt in Orlando shooting

ORLANDO, Fla. — Orlando police said a man and a 6-year-old were hurt in a shooting early Tuesday.

Officers responded to the Palm Grove Gardens apartments along W.D. Judge Drive near Mercy Drive shortly before 1 a.m.

Investigators told Eyewitness News that officers located two victims with gunshot wounds — a man in his 30s and the child.

Detectives determined that the suspect shot at their intended target, the 30-year-old man, injuring both the man and the child with a single shot.

Investigators said the 6-year-old was standing nearby.

The investigation is active and we will continue providing updates as soon as they become available.

Police said both victims were taken to hospitals and are expected to survive.

Police said they have information about a suspect vehicle but a suspect has not been identified.
