City of Clermont, police chief face federal lawsuit

CLERMONT, Fla.,None — The city of Clermont and its police chief are facing a federal lawsuit.

Former officer Kyle Bermingham filed the suit in federal court in Ocala.

It alleges he was wrongly fired after he and four other officers complained about Chief Stephen Graham to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement a few years ago.

He also claims his right to free speech was violated when he was reprimanded for voicing his concerns about the chief.

The officer's lawyer said he might add other officers to the lawsuit against the chief.
