ORLANDO, Fla. — A composite sketch was released Tuesday of a man who deputies said robbed Full Sail University students at gunpoint.
Investigators said the man stole the students’ electronic devices.
The robberies did not happen on campus, authorities said.
Deputies said at least six students in two weeks were held up.
"It's kind of scary to think about it, because when we're out here, we're thinking that we're safe and stuff," said Full Sail student Kelvin Rauls.
Rauls is one of Full Sail's more than 16,000 students, many of whom carry laptops and high-tech gear for their classes and projects.
“It's one of those things where maybe all of this tech isn't the best thing to give everybody, but at the same time, it's what we're training to do," said Rauls.
Student Elijah Rosario said he was at one of the complexes when deputies were investigating one of the robberies.
"I'm a pedestrian. So I walk home from school. I make sure I don't have my Full Sail badge on. If I can avoid it, I make sure I don't even have my laptop on me if I'm walking back and forth. It's getting crazy out here," said Rosario.
The robber was described as an African-American man in his 20s, measuring at about 6 feet tall, with an athletic build and short, cropped hair. Authorities said the man had a strong southern accent.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Orange County Sheriff’s Office or Crimeline at 800-423-8477. Authorities are offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.
