DCF worker arrested, accused of falsifying records on possible child abuse case

A worker with the Department of Children and Families was arrested last week after investigators said she lied about checking up on a child who may have been in danger.
Florida Department of Law Enforcement agents said Doreece Hines, 31, falsified documents when she was assigned a case involving a child who had bruises on his or her body.
The investigation, which started in April, showed Hines documented that she visited the child’s home and spoke to the parents, but the visit never happened, investigators said.
FDLE agents said Hines also entered wrong information in her case notes and later tried to edit the notes.
Hines also failed to notify law enforcement about her case, investigators said.
She was booked into the Volusia County Jail and has been terminated from the DCF.
No other details were released.
