The collision prompted the closure of all eastbound lanes of Colonial Drive (State Road 50), between Kirkman Road and Paul Street.

Troopers said a Chevy Camaro was traveling eastbound on Colonial Drive at a high speed and a Toyota Avalon was traveling eastbound ahead of the Camaro.

Troopers said the Camaro driver, identified as Charles Shea, failed to slow down and rear-ended the Avalon.

After the crash, Shea ran away, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
