Shootout ends in crash in front of Orlando CVS

ORLANDO, Fla. — Orange County deputies are searching for the driver of a Cadillac that was involved in a shootout Saturday.

Deputies said when they spotted the black Cadillac and a Ford Focus on Goldenrod Road at about 10:30 a.m., someone from the Cadillac was shooting at the Ford Focus.  They said a man in the Ford Focus also opened fire.

“It’s very, very dangerous. There’s a lot of traffic, a lot of Saturday traffic, people out shopping,” said Lt. Susan Wallace of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

The Focus eventually crashed into a sign in a CVS Pharmacy parking lot.

Witnesses saw the man run from the Focus and into a wooded area.

“The driver of the Ford Focus got out of the vehicle and ran into the woods behind the CVS,” Wallace said.

The Sheriff’s Office brought out a K-9 team and the suspect was found hiding behind a wall.

He wasn’t hit by any of the bullets and was only hurt from the crash.

The Cadillac was last seen heading east on Curry Ford Road. Deputies are looking for the vehicle along with a gray pickup truck that was behind the Cadillac during the shooting.

Deputies said someone in the Cadillac may be injured so they alerted all hospitals to be on the lookout.

Investigators don’t know if the driver of the gray pickup truck was helping the shooter or if it was a good Samaritan trying to keep tabs on the shooters for law enforcement.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crimeline.

Deputies have not released the name of the suspect in the Focus or a possible motive for the gunfire.
