PALM BAY, Fla. — Investigators released more details Friday in the case of a Palm Bay mother who called 911 and said she killed her three children and then tried to kill herself.
Jessica McCarty is accused of killing her three children, 5-month-old Christopher Swist, Phillip McCarty, 6, and Lacey McCarty, 7, at their Kenmore Street home on March 20.
Newly released court documents that include notes taken by investigators as they transported McCarty to jail paint a disturbing picture of someone who wanted to die.
Hand-written notes recorded by detectives who spoke to McCarty after she was arrested said she tried to take her own life moments later, but Palm Bay police officers used non-lethal beanbags to subdue her.
"I just lost my children," she told detectives. "I wish I would've finished the job."
She went on to say that her children deserved to die and that her whole family is destroyed.
The notes also reveal the children told McCarty during the incident that they love her so much. Her two sons were found with cords around their necks, and it appears her daughter was drowned in a bathtub, the documents said.
"Someone who killed their kids doesn't deserve to live," she told investigators. "Just give me the death penalty -- right here, right now."
McCarty remains jailed on three counts of first-degree premeditated murder.
