CITRA, Fla. — One person was hospitalized early Wednesday morning after a passenger vehicle became pinned underneath a tractor-trailer in Citra, according to Marion County Fire Rescue.
Firefighters were called to the crash around 4:25 a.m. near U.S. Highway 441 and U.S. Highway 301.
Crews arrived about five minutes later and found a vehicle trapped beneath the tractor-trailer with one person inside.

Firefighters immediately began an extrication operation to free the trapped driver.
The patient was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Highway Patrol also assisted at the scene.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.
