Despite being set in Louisiana, the movie was filmed in Central Florida, with Clermont’s chain of lakes standing in for the Louisiana bayou and DeLand’s Spec Martin Memorial Stadium used as the home field of the South Central Louisiana State University Mud Dogs — not to mention the film’s climactic “Bourbon Bowl” scene was shot at Camping World Stadium.

Sandler’s sports comedy is one example of many, including Dan Aykroyd’s 1991 movie “My Girl,” of a time when Central Florida was a popular filming destination thanks, in part, to Florida’s former film incentive program that ended in 2016.
