Eye on the Tropics: Arlene weakens to a remnant low

ORLANDO, Fla. — We are monitoring Arlene throughout the weekend. Read the latest updates below:

5 p.m. Update:

Arlene has weakened and is no longer a tropical cyclone or a tropical depression.

Meteorologist George Waldenberger said it is now a remnant low.

10:38 a.m. Update:

Arlene has been downgraded to a tropical depression.

Meteorologist Kassandra Crimi said it would continue to weaken Saturday and could become a Remnant Low later this afternoon.

No changes are expected, and there is still no threat to Central Florida.

As of 5 a.m. on Saturday, Tropical Storm Arlene continues churning in the Gulf Of Mexico, but Meteorologist Kassandra Crimi said it’s expected to weaken throughout the day.

Arlene continues to drift SSE at 9 mph and is getting close to Cuba.

Still, we will not have direct impacts from this system.

Pockets of heavy rain can be expected in Cuba, South Florida and portions of the Bahamas.
