ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Federal agents arrested a father and son duo whom they said were running a major central Florida drug trafficking operation.
Agents said Nick Gable, 73, and his son Dominic Gable, 36, who suffers from multiple sclerosis and is wheelchair bound, had ties to a Mexican drug cartel.
Drug Enforcement Agents got a tip that the duo was leading a drug trafficking organization that distributed kilos of cocaine and marijuana throughout Brevard County.
The Gables were arrested at a Hampton Inn near Orlando International Airport this weekend where investigators said they were picking up 10 kilos of cocaine.
Dominic Gable told Channel 9 he needs surgeries, he’s raising money through GoFundMe and his dad has cancer, and they couldn’t possibly run a drug operation.
But a confidential source told agents the Gables get drugs from the Juarez cartel in Mexico.
Last Tuesday, investigators said Dominic Gable and another man were heading to what they thought was a stash house in Orlando.
They were pulled over on a traffic stop and investigators confiscated $200,000.
This weekend, drug agents said the Gables arranged to meet undercover agents at a Hampton Inn and were arrested when they tried to pick up 10 kilos of cocaine.
“We’re both in shock. I feel like it was entrapment, like they were trying to make me out to be somebody I’m not,” said Dominic Gable.
He said the $200,000 was going to pay for his surgeries.
The judge agreed to allow the men out jail to wait for trial, but they had to surrender their passports and agree to stay in the area.
