The Florida Highway Patrol was gearing up Friday night for a saturation patrol – which troopers were calling a “DUI wolf pack” – aimed at getting drunk and impaired drivers off the road.
The FHP DUI division was bolstered Friday by troopers from the K-9 unit, narcotics and others.
They were focusing on east Orange County, including University Boulevard, Alafaya Trail, State Road 50 and Orange Blossom Trail, FHP spokesman Capt. Chris Sorvillo said.
“We’re going to tell our 25 troopers to go into patrol mode,” he said. “(It’s a) better opportunity to go out there and focus on bad driving behavior.”
Trooper Catherine Hall said that she looks for signs of impairment, which include aggressive driving and speeding.
She hoped that the wolf pack approach would be enough to keep impaired drivers off the road.
