FHP: Woman, child injured after pickup truck crashes into Sumter County home

SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. — Troopers said a woman and child were injured just after midnight Sunday when a pickup truck crashed into their home.

Investigators said the 20-year-old driver of the truck was traveling at a high rate of speed on County Road 421 and failed to stop at a stop sign at County Road 470.

Troopers said the driver then crashed into a home located at 2986 County Road 470 in Lake Panasoffkee.

Troopers said the driver was not injured, and the 29-year-old woman and 9-year-old child who were inside the home suffered minor injuries.

The driver is facing charges of careless driving.
