According to AAA, the price for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel on Thursday settled at $3.11.

That’s a 5-cent jump from a day earlier, and a 12-cent increase from a week ago, when the average price per gallon dipped below the $3 mark in The Sunshine State.

While it’s still 25-cents less than a month ago, the recent about-face no doubt has motorists wondering how high prices could climb as we head into the new year.

GasBuddy, a Boston-based company that analyzes fuel data, has released its annual fuel outlook.

The report said that in 2023, a national average of $4 per gallon is a possibility as early as May.

Now, that figure sits at $3.15 per gallon, slightly higher than Florida’s average.

GasBuddy analysts believe the national average could fluctuate in a more typical trend, versus the nationwide roller coaster ride drivers felt in 2022.
