WINTER GARDEN, Fla. — Florida Hospital is expanding in Orange County and hiring 150 people for some high-paying positions.
Channel 9's Racquel Asa was there when crews broke ground for the new facility Tuesday morning.
Florida Hospital officials unveiled renderings of the new facility just minutes before the groundbreaking.
For many residents in west Orange County's Winter Garden Village, the hospital facility will be a welcome addition to their community. Right now the closest hospital is Health Central, which is almost 6 miles away.
"This facility is only going to make Winter Garden a more attractive place for people to live, work and play," said Winter Garden Mayor John Rees.
The first phase of hospital will be 75,000 square feet.
The hospital will have an emergency department, outpatient services and a clinic.
The hospital is expected to open late next year.
