Florida reports record COVID-19 cases, virus hospitalizations on Saturday

ORLANDO, Fla. — Florida health officials continue to report record setting numbers of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations in the state.

Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows Florida recorded 23,903 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday.

This is the third time this week Florida reported a new record for cases in the state for a single day.

The Florida Hospital Association reported a new record of 13,348 COVID-19 hospitalizations for the state.

Data shows the daily total of new COVID-19 hospitalizations in Florida has continued to climb for the last six days.

The rise in cases and hospitalizations are being fueled by the highly contagious delta variant.
