Florida sex offender sought after cutting off GPS tracker

St. Johns County deputies are searching for a sex offender who cut off his GPS tracking device days after he was released from prison, according to officials.

Robert Lee Ferrell, 35, cut off the tracking device and dumped it in a trash can off U.S. 1 at approximately 6 p.m. on Tuesday, deputies said.

Ferrell was released from prison a week ago. He is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 135 pounds.

Ferrell has a shaved head and tattoos all over his body, including on his head and neck.

He has a tattoo on top of his head that says Florida with a picture of a face next to it.

Ferrell was arrested for a lewd and lascivious act on a victim under 16 in 2001. He was found guilty of failing to register as a sex offender in 2015.
