Former Orange County teacher accused of soliciting student for sex via Snapchat

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A former Orange County teacher is accused of soliciting a child to engage in sex.

Thomas Tomaszewski has resigned from Freedom Middle School, but it’s not clear if he left before or after the accusation was made.

Former students told Channel 9 everyone called him “Mr. T” and said he was a good English teacher.

“I was shocked. I was like, ‘What? Mr. T?’ He wasn’t that sort of person. I didn’t think he would do such things,” said former student Manuel Zuluago.

Orange County Public Schools documentation indicated Tomaszewski may have also worked with the Boys and Girls Club on campus, and at one point, coached girls' soccer.

Orange County investigators said a student from last year came forward telling them she and Tomaszewski exchanged sexually explicit messages and photos through Snapchat.

When confronted by investigators, they said in a report he “was visibly upset and shaking, and he later admitted he sent shirtless pictures to her and engaged in sexual texting.”

He told investigators he likely sent a naked photo of himself to the middle-school student.

Tomaszewski would not comment on the allegations when Channel 9 reporter Jeff Deal went to his home.

Investigators said he also admitted he grabbed the girl’s hips while she was in his classroom, but said that was the only time he physically touched her.
