OCOEE, Fla. — Former political candidate and local businessman Matthew Falconer was arrested on charges of DUI on Saturday.
Falconer was pulled over for allegedly speeding at Tomyn Boulevard and Maguire Road by an Ocoee police officer around 12:30 a.m.
According to an arrest report, the officer noticed Falconer's eyes were bloodshot and that he smelled of alcohol.
During a search of Falconer's pickup truck, officers allegedly located a cold can of beer in the passengers seat.
Falconer was booked in to the Orange County jail, but has since bonded out. He was also issued two traffic citations.
WFTV reached out to Falconer regarding the DUI, and he said he was looking forward to clearing his name and does not agree with the officers' assessment.
Matthew Falconer was running for a seat as a state representative until he left the race in June because of a paperwork mishap. Falconer also ran for Orange County mayor in 2010, but lost to Teresa Jacobs.
