POLK COUNTY, Fla. — A former Polk County teacher convicted of having sex with several students is getting a lot of support from overseas.
Jennifer Fichter was sentenced to 22 years in prison this month after admitting that she had sex with three of her students.
Fichter has received support from people in Russia, Belgium and Switzerland who believe that her punishment is too harsh and are petitioning the U.S. Justice system to release her.
The petition on Change.org has more than 12,000 signatures.
