TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida State University quarterback Jameis Winston is going pro and will enter the 2015 NFL draft.
The 2013 Heisman Trophy winner announced his decision to forgo his final two years of eligibility in a statement released to ESPN by The Legacy Agency Wednesday.
Winston was the most successful quarterback in college football the last two seasons, but also faced lengthy sexual assault investigations.
He was not charged by police and was cleared by the university. His accuser sued the school's board of trustees on Wednesday, claiming it had an unreasonable response to her accusations.
Winston was also cited by police after he walked out of a Tallahassee Publix without paying for crab legs.
He was then suspended from the Sept. 20 game against Clemson after students witnessed him yelling an obscene sexual comment on campus.
The Seminoles went 26-1 with Winston starting and won the 2014 national championship. He passed for nearly 8,000 yards and 65 touchdowns in his two seasons at FSU.
According to ESPN, "Antonor Winston said his son received a first-round grade from the NFL draft advisory committee."
Winston is expected to be one of the first quarterbacks selected, but faces questions about his off-field incidents.
Winston and FSU got blown out at the Rose Bowl, losing to Oregon 59-20.
FSU defensive end Mario Edwards Jr. and junior cornerback P.J. Williams also announced they will enter the NFL draft.
