High flying swing latest ride announced for International Drive

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The latest ride coming to International Drive will be a 420-foot-high swing set called Star Flyer, Channel 9 learned Tuesday.

"We are very, very proud to bring the world's tallest Star Flyer to Orange County and Florida," said Ritchie Armstrong, with Star Flyer.

Star Flyer, along with the just-announced Skyscraper roller coaster and the Orlando Eye, are expected to increase the number of visitors to the area.

"The benefit is to continue activating International Drive conventioneers, tourists and locals," said Chuck Whittall, president of Unicorp National Development.

County officials said they are getting ready for it with the widening of Sand Lake Road and the International Driver transit project.

The rides could be open before the county projects are finished.

Star Flyer is expected to cost users about $10 a ride. It is expected to draw about 300,000 people a year.
