OVIEDO, Fla. — A high school girl's basketball coach could lose his job after allegedly sending inappropriate Facebook messages to one of his players.
Jacob Ciesla, 20, coaches the freshman team at Oviedo High School.
WFTV talked to Ciesla, who said, "I'm a 20-year-old that made a dumb decision."
Ciesla could be fired for that decision.
Investigators said he was caught exchanging inappropriate Facebook messages with one of the players, who is 17 years old.
"What did you say to her?" WFTV reporter Daralene Jones asked.
"Stuff," he replied.
"Give me an example of what you were saying," Jones said.
"I'm not going to say that. It was inappropriate, that's as much as I'll give you," said Cielsa.
Investigators said they got a complaint about the inappropriate messages a few weeks ago.
According to a police report, Ciesla sent nude photos of himself via text messages, and then did more of the same through Facebook.
Ciesla said he flirted with the girl because she's pretty, but never intended to get intimate with her, as some of the messages may have suggested.
"You know you can't have those kinds of interactions with students, what were you thinking?" Jones asked.
"I wasn't. I just wasn't thinking," he replied.
District officials wouldn't comment about the investigation.
However, WFTV found out that it isn't the first time employees at Oviedo High school have been in trouble.
Last year, the assistant basketball coach was caught giving gifts to players, a football coach was arrested for hitting a student, and a wrestling coach was in the spotlight for allegedly falsifying player addresses for eligibility.
"I apologize, willing to take all the consequences for all of my actions," Ciesla said.
District officials said they will discuss whether to fire Ciesla at its meeting next week.
Ciesla doesn't teach any classes at the school, but graduated from there a few years ago.
