The IRS is warning Americans who have not received their stimulus payments to check the mail closely.

The Treasury Department sent the debit cards in nondescript envelopes that could be mistaken as junk mail.

The IRS has reportedly sent 4 million payments on prepaid debit cards.

The envelopes are labeled "Money Network Cardholder Services." The Visa card has a Visa logo on the front and a logo for MetaBank on the back.

MetaBank is the Treasury Department's financial agent.

The cards are going out to certain eligible taxpayers who filed tax returns, but the IRS doesn't have their bank account information to make a direct deposit.

The American Association of Retired Persons says it has heard from members who thought the cards were a fraud or an unsolicited credit card offer.
