Kissimmee reading teacher accused of inappropriately touching co-worker, forcing her into closet

KISSIMMEE, Fla. — A 51-year-old Kissimmee middle school teacher and local pastor was arrested after a co-worker accused him of picking her up and forcing her into a closet where he allegedly touched her inappropriately, deputies said.

The incident is reported to have happened at about 4:15 p.m. on April 5 at Parkway Middle School, where Shawn Greaves was a reading teacher, an Osceola County arrest report said.

Greaves is accused of grabbing another teacher by the buttocks, throwing her over his shoulder and taking her into a classroom closet where he allegedly started to rub himself against her, the report said.

Another teacher witnessed the incident and told deputies that the victim “continuously pushed (Greaves) away while yelling, ‘Put me down,’ ‘Get your hands off me,’ ‘How dare you touch me?’ and, ‘Let go of me,’” the report said.

Students and parents were shocked to hear about the accusations against the teacher they knew as “The Prayer Man.”

“(He was) very respectful and somebody, if you had a problem, you could talk to him about it,” Parkway Middle School student Ali Sissoko said.

Shellie Fanfan-Sissoko said Greaves was known to lead students in prayer to start off the day.

“He led a prayer group here at Parkway Middle, to assure that the students started the day off in prayer and meditation,” she said.

According to Osceola County Schools, Greaves has taught at Parkway Middle School since 1997 and teaches students with disabilities.

He was arrested Wednesday and charged with kidnapping and battery.

The district has reassigned Greaves to a temporary position away from students while the allegations are investigated and his employment status is evaluated.

School district officials told Channel 9's Angela Jacobs that they found no criminal history during a background check that goes through the FBI and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement screening.

Greaves has since bonded out of jail.
