ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Two car thieves are on the run Tuesday after the car they stole crashed into an Orange County deputy's SUV, authorities said.
Investigators said at about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, they stopped the men because they believed they were stealing a Mercedes from the Top Service Auto Sales on Pine Hills Road.
But when they tried to confront them, the men jumped out of the car and fled. The Mercedes rolled down a hill and crashed into the deputy's SUV.
"As she removed the patrol vehicle, the white Mercedes started to roll forward and made contact with her Tahoe at that time," said Trooper Steven Montiero of the Florida Highway Patrol.
The damage to the SUV is minor, and no one was injured.
