Local student graduates with nearly $67,000 worth of scholarships to go to college.

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — Gia-Marie Tim was honored at her church Sunday morning for receiving over 20 scholarships to pursue her higher education goals.

Tim graduated from Lake Minneola High School on May 19, and earlier this year, she received 20 scholarships and federal grants worth $67,000.

Now she wants to pursue a degree in finance at Florida State University to later on, join the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps program.

Tim said she has always loved practical math applications and hopes to help others with her skills.

Her mother said this accomplishment has a special meaning for the family.

Even while studying to win the scholarship, Tim was also able to squeeze in some time to join the HS volleyball and track teams as well as sing.

Tim leaves for Tallahassee in mid-June.
