Man accused of killing Daytona Beach police officer hires new attorney

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A Volusia County man accused of killing a Daytona Beach police officer has hired a new attorney.

Othal Wallace hired a lawyer from St. Augustine for his case.

Wallace is accused of killing Officer Jason Raynor last summer.

Wallace was found hiding in a treehouse in Georgia. Investigators said he was arrested in a rural area of DeKalb County, Georgia, three days after he allegedly shot Raynor in the head.

TIMELINE: Othal Wallace captured in Georgia

Raynor died of his injuries two months later, in August 2021.

Wallace previously had a public defender on his case.
