Man arrested, charged with video voyeurism at Apopka Walmart

APOPKA, Fla. — Police say a man was bold enough to try to record up a woman's skirt in the middle of a packed Walmart.

James King, 42, was arrested and charged with video voyeurism.

Channel 9's Shannon Butler spoke to shoppers at the Apopka Walmart, where police say King preyed on an unsuspecting woman.

Butler also spoke with the woman who police say was the target of the alleged voyeur. She said she believes the man know exactly what he was doing.

"I just didn't feel like that would happen to me," Teneika Alexander said.

She said she was doing her weekly shopping at the store when the incident occurred.

"I was thinking this was a bit close and I have on a dress, so I looked over just to see what was going on. That's when I noticed he was extending his arm to put a camera under my skirt," said Alexander.

In the Walmart surveillance video King is seen standing in the aisle. When Alexander walks by and stops he crouches down, cellphone in hand and pointed in her direction.

Alexander appears to catch King in the act, and calmly takes her cart and walks away.

Butler asked Alexander why she didn't confront King as soon as she saw him.

"I wanted him to get caught. I just didn't want him to get hurt, I wanted him to get caught so he wouldn't do it again to someone else," said Alexander.

Alexander quickly returned with her husband, who confronted King and took a picture of him..

King left the store, but Alexander's husband followed him and took a picture of his car's license plate.

That helped police track King down, and hours later he was picked up at home and taken to the Orange County Jail.

Police said King told them he was looking for some screws in the hardware aisle.

When they asked why his phone was out when Alexander spotted him he said he was looking at his to-do list. Police said they did not find that list on his phone.

King has bonded out of jail.
