Man faces DUI manslaughter charges in fatal October Port Orange crash

PORT ORANGE, Fla. — Port Orange police said Thursday a 32-year-old man will face DUI manslaughter charges after he ran a red light and slammed into another vehicle, killing two of the passengers.

Authorities were waiting on lab results, which is why they said it took so long to charge Patrick Shea with DUI manslaughter, vehicular homicide and DUI with injuries and property damage.

Police said Shea was driving close to 75 mph in a 50 mph zone in October when he ran a red light while on Dunlawton and slammed into a car carrying Teresa and James Shinaver.

According to the police report, Shea's blood-alcohol content was 0.115 percent.

The couple was pronounced dead at the scene.

Shea is being held in the Volusia County Jail on $80,000 bond.
