ORLANDO, Fla. — Authorities say a 27-year-old man was sentenced to more than life in prison for fatally stabbing his girlfriend, then killing two women when he crashed into their vehicle during a police chase.
Reports say that Jose Antonio Maisonet-Maldonado told Circuit Judge Marc Lubet on Monday he was sorry for his victims' families.
He was sentenced to life on a first-degree murder charge and 120 years on lesser charges.
In making his ruling, the judge said "it is the honest hope of this court that you are never, ever released from prison."
He's accused of stabbing Berlitz Alvelo, running over her with his SUV and then leading police on a high speed chase that ended with a crash that killed Amanda Taylor and Francesca Jeffery in April 2010.
