9-year-old girl reported missing in Citra found safe

MARION COUNTY, Fla. — UPDATE: Nine-year-old Chelsea Phillips has been found safe at a friend's house, Marion County Sheriff's Office said Friday.

Earlier:

A Missing Child Alert was issued Friday for a 9-year-old girl who was reported missing Thursday afternoon in Marion County.
Deputies said Chelsea Phillips was last seen after being dropped off by her school bus near U.S. Highway 301 at about 2 p.m. Thursday near her home on NE 165th Street in Citra.
A news release said that Chelsea “left in an unknown direction.”
Chelsea was last seen wearing a multi-colored floral top, tan shorts and brown sandals.
