DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — A Daytona Beach woman was sentenced to 20 months in prison for jumping into a fight between her teenage daughter and another girl and kicking the other girl in the face.
Clesha Pinckney, 38, was sentenced this week after jurors convicted her of felony child abuse. She faced a maximum sentence of five years in prison.
Authorities said the victim was walking home from Campbell Middle School in December 2014 when an SUV pulled up and two juveniles jumped out to attack her.
Pinckney also got out of the SUV and kicked the girl in the face when she was on the ground.
"She gets out of her car and kicks the girl, kicks the 13-year-old girl,” said Jimmie Flynt of the Daytona Beach Police Department.
With the girl bleeding from her lips, police said Pinckney and the children got into the SUV and drove away.
