LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — Police said an armed motorcyclist opened fire on an occupied vehicle in a road rage incident in Lady Lake.
Channel 9's Myrt Price talked to both drivers involved in the incident on County Road 466.
"That's the first time I have ever been shot at and I'm still shaking," said the victim, who didn't want to be identified.
According to investigators, the victim was driving eastbound when they spotted motorcyclist John Bibas driving erratically.
"He was speeding up and almost hitting the car in front of him, and then slowing down almost hitting the car behind him," said the victim.
The driver told police he slowed down and pulled in front of Bibas in the right lane, which apparently upset him. The victim claims Bibas drove on the yellow line between cars, got in front of the victim, and slammed on his brakes. The victim said he was forced to stop his car and that's when shots were fired.
"He shot the car and when I looked into my review mirror, he was in a stance like he was at a shooting range, shooting at me," said the victim.
No one was injured in the shooting. Bibas told Eyewitness News he felt he had no other choice than to open fire.
"I was nearly run down. If I was a police officer that guy would have been charged with attempted murder," said Bibas.
Bibas was booked into the Lake County Jail following the incident and charged with shooting into an occupied vehicle.
