Woman, child die after motorcyclist strikes them, Orange County firefighters say

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A woman and a child died after a motorcyclist struck them both Thursday evening, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Orange County Fire Rescue said the crash happened near the 1100 block of North Semoran Boulevard.

A motorcyclist was driving southbound and speeding when they hit the woman and child who were crossing the street, according to Florida Highway Patrol. The motorcyclist was going so fast they lost control and hit a minivan head on. Firefighters said the motorcyclist was also transported to a hospital in critical condition.

The woman was transported to a hospital, where she later died, troopers said. The child was also sent to a hospital and initially listed in critical condition, firefighters said.

A woman told Eyewitness News she was driving when the motorcycle revved up behind her. It got in the lane next to her to pass, and that’s when she says the accident happened.

“All the sudden I just saw a collision and the motorcycle hit something and burst into several pieces, so I of course pulled up because I saw some people off to my right to check on them," she said.
