Singleton’s car, which was in her driveway, was also damaged in the crash.

Now her biggest challenge is holding the drivers accountable for the damage.

Singleton still has no home nearly two months later, and now Orlando police closed the case and made no arrests.

“One of the really important things that they have to prove is they have to prove the identity of the wheel witness,” trial attorney Eben Self said.

He said a witness has to see the suspect behind the wheel to prove it.

“It’s oftentimes difficult when you don’t have a wheel witness, and you have these traffic crimes,” Self said.

Although witnesses said they saw the boys start the race about a block away and video caught them getting out of the car, Self said that’s not proof of a race or who was driving beyond a reasonable doubt.
