ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The Principal of Oak Ridge High School in Orange County has been placed on administrative leave.

According to a message from Orange County Public Schools to Oak Ridge High School parents, Principal Benjamin Alvarado was placed on leave because of his handling of an “unauthorized visitor” on campus on April 6.

“We are looking into how the incident was reported and communicated,” OCPS Chief of High Schools Jose Martinez said in a statement. “I want to assure you, I take incidents involving the security of our students and employees very seriously…while I cannot discuss employee matters, please be assured this is being handled.”
The school district did not specify exactly what Principal Alvarado is accused of doing or who the unauthorized visitor was.
The OCPS Office of Professional Standards has launched an internal investigation.

In the absence of Principal Alvarado, the school district’s High School Office will provide support for the remaining Oak Ridge High School leadership.
