OPD: Woman leaves kids in hot car while she drinks at bar

ORLANDO, Fla. — A Kissimmee mother has been arrested after Orlando police said she left her two children in a hot car while she drank at a bar.

Larissa Rivera, 28, faces two charges of leaving a child unsupervised in a motor vehicle.

Police said the arrest happened Sunday morning at Butikin Bar at 6400 International Drive in Orlando.

Police said they found a silver Ford Focus that was running with a 5-year-old girl and a 4-year-old child inside without any air conditioning.

Police said the little girl was crying and sweating and the boy was sleeping.

Rivera walked out of the bar and told officers that she always goes to Butkin Bar and that the patrons know her and take turns checking on the children, police said.

Witnesses said Rivera was at the bar at least an hour and a half and the children were alone in the car at least 30 minutes, investigators said.

Rivera said she didn’t have any immediate family around to care for her children, police said.

Police said during their investigation, it was 80 degrees and felt like 88 degrees.

The children, who were dressed in long sleeve pants pajamas, were not injured, police said.

Rivera has posted bail and is out of the Orange County Jail.
