Corrections officer resigns after allegedly attacking co-worker

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A former Orange County corrections officer could face criminal charges after an investigation uncovered instances of violence and inappropriate emails.

Officer Adrian McRae was accused of battering a female co-worker and resigned in early 2015, Channel 9 found out.

According to investigative documents, McRae and his co-worker were involved in a sexual relationship before he became violent. The alleged victim said McRae grabbed her neck and threw her into a control panel.

There was no video or witnesses to the incident, but McRae quit his job when internal affairs began investigating.

In addition to the battery claims, documents show McRae violated the code of conduct by sending and receiving inappropriate emails with his county email address. According to the investigation, sexually explicit photos and obscene language were found in McRae's email.

Internal affairs found that a third person, a female sergeant, also exchanged inappropriate emails with McRae that included profane language. She was allowed to retire.

McRae is now facing the possible loss of his law enforcement certification.

A jail spokeswoman said they maintain a strict policy against workplace violence. She said the jail reached out to the Orange County Sheriff's Office for it to review the case. At this point, McRae has not been charged with a crime.
