ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — An Orange County man was arrested after authorities said he shot his elderly neighbor.

Investigators said they were called to a home off Numilla Drive just after 9 p.m. for reports of a man who had been shot.

Deputies said that when they arrived at the home, they found 70-year-old Miguel Lanzo lying on the floor of his garage with a gunshot wound to the back.

Lanzo was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died.

Detectives said witnesses told them a neighbor, Ramon Antonio Frias Valerio, was the man who shot Lanzo.

According to a report after the shooting, Valerio returned to his home and refused to surrender to deputies.

After several demands by deputies, Valerio walked out of the home and was arrested.

Deputies said they found the gun believed to have been used in the shooting in Valerio’s pocket.

Valerio was charged with first-degree murder and booked into Orange County Jail.

Investigators have not said what led to the shooting and only revealed that the investigation is ongoing.
