ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The worker at Ocoee Middle School is accused of having sex with the teen girl multiple times over the course of a year and even tried to have sex with the teen’s friend, Orange County deputies said.
Eyewitness News is not naming the suspect because he has not been officially charged.
The victim’s mother told Channel 9’s Janine Reyes when she contacted the principal May 11 to report the abuse, the principal said there was nothing that could be done.
“He’s at the school, so regardless if he’s under your authority, this is your school as a principal,” the mother said.
The mother said the principal told her that because the man allegedly the man who allegedly has sex with the teen is a food service employee and not a teacher, he is not under the principal’s direct supervision and therefore the principal couldn’t take any action.
The Orange County School District did place the employee on relief of duty with pay last Friday. That is 10 weeks after deputies interviewed the man at the middle school.
The teen told her mom she had a sexual relationship with the man two years ago, according to the mother.
At the time of the incident, the girl was 14-years-old and the man was 32-years-old. The girl admitted to her mother she had sex with the man more than 20 times.
According to documents, the daughter’s 13-year-old friend corroborated the claims.
Eyewitness News learned the state decided not to prosecute the case.
The school district’s open investigation is separate from the criminal investigation.
The man refused to answer questions from deputies.
