Orange County to auction off surplus government property

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County will hold two auctions next week to sell off surplus government property, such as vehicles, equipment and furniture.

The county comptroller's office has planned an auction for Monday to sell off used pickup trucks, cars, SUVs, trailers, heavy equipment and lawn equipment.

“We’re doing this to get some money for the property,” said Comptroller Phil Diamond. “It is money that will go to the taxpayers.”

On Tuesday and Tuesday, used office furniture, computer equipment, exercise equipment, kitchen equipment, lab equipment and electronic equipment will be sold.

Pick-up trucks, cars and SUVs will also be auctioned off, along with a large mixer, an arcade game, treadmills and chairs.

“Stuff comes from all over. Might be from the parks department, might be from the convention center, might be from the county office building,” Diamond said.

Both auctions are set to begin at 9 a.m. and will take place at a warehouse at 1800 Cypress Lake Drive in Orange County’s South chase neighborhood.

“We’ve got a battery charger, so they can see if the pickup trucks run,” Diamond said. “Some of it is nicer than other stuff, but people can get good deals here.”

Last year’s auction generated more than $540,000 in revenue for Orange County.

An auction preview will be held until 3 p.m. Friday.
