The increase in these vehicles on the streets resulted in a crash involving an unlicensed dirt bike with no headlights.

Police said 19-year-old Kevin Ortiz was riding the bike on Hoffner Avenue on Saturday night when it crashed into a car.

“We have a fully staffed police department, but you know, they’re stretched out limits, you know, across the whole city that can’t be everywhere at the same time,” said Belle Isle city councilman Anthony Carugno.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said it formed a task force with other agencies and is using unconventional resources to monitor these vehicles.
