ORLANDO, Fla. — Florida Department of Health officials reported a total of 6,118 new COVID-19 cases Thursday with 1,220 of those cases in Central Florida.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 1,930,232 cases of the virus reported in Florida.
The number of negative COVID-19 tests in the state increased by 26,450 bringing the total number of cases to 9,269,680.

The state on Thursday also reported 126 additional COVID-19-related deaths, bringing the state’s death toll of residents and nonresidents to 31,955.
Of the most recent COVID-19-related deaths, 52 were reported in Central Florida, including 12 each in Polk and Marion Counties, nine in Orange, seven in Lake, five in Volusia, three in Seminole and two each in both Sumter and Osceola counties.
Flagler and Brevard counties reported no deaths.
At a news conference Thursday, Gov. Ron DeSantis said Florida is set to receive 175,000 Johnson & Johnson COIVD-19 vaccines this week.
The governor said he wasn’t sure exactly when the state would get the vaccines but that the additional shipments would allow the state to lower the vaccination eligibility age this month.

On Wednesday, soldiers of the 101st Airborne Division lined up, ready to help vaccinate thousands of people at Orlando’s new FEMA vaccination site.
The vaccination site at Valencia College West Campus in Orlando opened at 7 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Officials said they administered almost 1,900 vaccinations, but say they have the ability to do more.
Lt. Colonel Troy Fisher with the U.S. Army said he was hoping for at least 2,000 to 3,000 people a day.
The site will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week.
