ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A Lake County man was arrested Wednesday morning in Apopka after deputies said he pointed a loaded gun at passing vehicles while walking in the roadway.
George Edwards Stone, 52, faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and improper exhibition of a firearm.
A Sheriff responded around 9:28 a.m. to West McCormick Road after reports of an armed pedestrian in the road, according to an arrest report. The deputy found Stone in the parking lot of a nearby Circle K holding a handgun.
Stone complied with commands, put the gun on the ground and was taken into custody without further incident.
A driver reported to deputies that she was on her way to school with her granddaughters when she saw Stone aiming a gun at her car while she was stopped at a traffic light. She reversed to put more space between her and Stone, then observed him aiming the weapon at other drivers before she called 911.
Deputies said the handgun had one round in the chamber and was reported stolen in Lake County in December 2025. Stone claimed he had the gun for about two months and fired it into the ground several times earlier that day at an unspecified location.
